Babies in a tent

A quick post for those of you who are wondering how we keep the kids warm at night when the temperatures get into the 40's and maybe below :
Hanna is in 2 cotton shirts, one of which is long sleeved, a fleece onesie (whole body), a fleece sleep sack and 2 quilted cotton sleep sacks. Then she is in her little tent (unzipped here for the photo), with a padded base on a thermarest camping mattress.  And when she fusses I get worried and bring her either into my bag or between me and Robert although she is not actually cold!
Lenny is a grown up camper and sleeps in pajamas, a whole body fleece suit and his new sleeping bag.
Of course in the mornings he sneaks in with us too!
But so far it's been working well. I have been lucky enough to get the middle spot between everyone... Warmer but I get kicked on all sides!

So here's the punch line... I wrote this last night.  We did ok but found out the low tonight in the Grand Canyon (where we are supposed to camp) is 25. Ok, we give up. Not that the kids would actually freeze but it would not be a restful night for anyone!  Fortunately we have iPhones and I was able to make a quick 2 night reservation in the Grand Canyon village. Must have been a cancellation because there was no availability a month ago. Will post more pictures soon!
